Verification, setup account

Updated over 2 years ago

To setup a Freetrade account, you only need a few details. Right now you need to be a UK resident for tax purposes and have a UK bank account.

If you're a British citizen, we need:

  • Your name

  • Date of birth

  • Address

  • Nationality

  • NI (national insurance) number

The first three should be easy! You can find your NI number marked on your payslip or national insurance card.

If you're a UK resident but are not a British citizen, you can still open an account. We'll need these details:

  • Your name

  • Date of birth

  • Address

  • Nationality

  • Your relevant national identification number (find what you should use here)

Note: If you are US citizen (including dual nationals) you will not be able to sign up for Freetrade at this time.

Usually, we can verify your identity from the above details right away! If we can’t verify them automatically, we might need some extra information. If this is the case, we’ll contact you ASAP to let you know what we’ll need from you.
