Why do you need my National Insurance number or National Identifier?

Updated today

We’re required to collect your National Insurance number (or another National Identifier) for regulatory reasons.

Each time you place a trade, we must report it to the FCA, along with your name and identifier.

If you open a Freetrade Stocks and Shares ISA, we also need your National Insurance number to meet HMRC reporting requirements.

Please note: To use Freetrade, you must be a permanent UK tax resident.
