What happened?
DriveWealth, a US broker used by many investment platforms including Freetrade, has reported that an unauthorised party accessed some of its systems on 4–5 September 2026. DriveWealth has said its trading systems were not affected and that no unauthorised trading, transfers or withdrawals took place.
Freetrade’s Relationship with DriveWealth
Freetrade holds US investments with DriveWealth in a single account in Freetrade’s name. We don’t share your name, contact details, identity documents or other personal information with DriveWealth. Your Freetrade account, your investments and the personal data you hold with us are not affected. You don’t need to change your password.
I moved to Freetrade from Stake. Could I hear from DriveWealth?
Yes. Freetrade acquired Stake UK’s customers in November 2024. Stake also used DriveWealth to provide US trading before your account transferred to Freetrade. Unlike Freetrade’s relationship with DriveWealth, Stake UK customers had individual accounts with DriveWealth. DriveWealth notified us that historic personal information connected to your old Stake account, which may include your name, contact details, address, employment info, age, gender, and nationality, has been accessed. Any notice you receive from DriveWealth relates to that former relationship, not to your Freetrade account. DriveWealth’s official contact points are [email protected], 1‑844‑770‑4353 (US), and https://legal.drivewealth.com/cyber-response-nonuscustomers. We’ve emailed customers who moved to Freetrade from Stake separately.
Staying safe
Be cautious of unexpected messages mentioning DriveWealth, Stake or your investments, especially any that ask for passwords, codes or payment details, or push you to click a link urgently. Freetrade will never ask for these by email, text or phone. If you see anything unusual on your account, contact us through in-app chat.
