What is the SIPP default investment option?

Updated over a year ago

When you open a Freetrade self-invested personal pension (SIPP), you’ll be offered a default investment option. We have selected our default option because we believe it meets the needs, objectives and characteristics of a typical Freetrade SIPP customer. The default investment option is not tailored to each individual, it is not investment advice and there is no obligation to invest.

The Freetrade SIPP default investment option is the Vanguard FTSE All-World UCITS (Acc) exchange-traded fund (ETF).

It tracks the performance of the FTSE All-World Index, providing a diversified and broad coverage of global equities for those in the accumulation stage of their non-workplace pensions. Income is reinvested into the fund.

We also use this ETF as a benchmark in the Insights tab of your app.

The default investment option can be helpful if you don’t know where to start or find it difficult to choose appropriate investments.

Before investing, consider whether this ETF can meet your personal needs and investment objectives. If you want to be sure that your SIPP and any investments in your SIPP are right for you, you may wish to seek investment advice.

The value of your investments can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you invest.

Freetrade does not give investment advice and you are responsible for making your own investment decisions. If you are unsure about what is right for you, you should seek independent advice. SIPP eligibility rules apply. Tax treatment depends on your personal circumstances and current rules may change.
